Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy

1. Mission Statement
At High Performance Media, we believe that high performance is better achieved through a diverse range of thoughts, backgrounds, and experiences. We are committed to building an inclusive environment where every employee, collaborator, and cast member feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to every production/project. We don’t just want to reflect the world as it is; we want to lead the media industry towards what it can be.
2. Our commitments
We are committed to the following principles across all our operations:
-
Zero tolerance: We have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or victimisation based on the protected characteristics defined by the Equality Act 2010.
-
Inclusive collaboration: We are committed to ensuring that our recruitment for staff and collaborators is open, transparent, and based purely on creative merit and professional capability. We welcome applications and interest from all individuals, including (but not limited to) Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people with disabilities.
-
On-screen diversity: We embrace differences and work with our clients to portray a realistic and inclusive view of modern British society.
-
Socio-economic inclusion: We recognise that the media industry has historically been difficult to access for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We are committed to fair pay and transparent recruitment to remove these barriers.
3. Practical implementation
On-set culture: Within the on-site pre-production briefings, we always refer to our EDI policy, which ensures that all crew and contributors are treated with respect.
Collaborators: We use blind CV reviews where possible.
4. Responsibilities
-
Management: The Directors are responsible for the implementation and monitoring of this policy.
-
Staff and collaborators: Every person representing High Performance Media is responsible for treating colleagues and clients with respect and reporting any conduct that breaches this policy.
5. Leadership accountability
As a director-led agency, accountability for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion starts and ends with the Leadership Team. We do not delegate EDI responsibility to a department; it is an active part of our daily decision-making.
-
Direct oversight: The Directors personally oversee every stage of the production process, from the selection of vetted collaborators to the final review of accessibility features, ensuring our EDI standards are met on every project.
-
Open dialogue: We maintain an "open door" culture for all our collaborators. Any concerns regarding conduct or inclusion are handled directly and confidentially by the Directors, ensuring immediate resolution and a safe working environment for everyone involved in a High Performance Media production.
